Just saw Ben Affleck's directorial debut Gone Baby Gone starring his brother Casey. The film is a kidnapping thriller that stars all-star cast (ed harris, morgan freeman) and takes place in boston. nic harcourt does the music supervision too.
the gigli hater that i am, must admit was pretty good. casey was great (although a little too hipster in his adidas vintage sweat jacket and adidas kicks for inner city/blue collar boston) best part about the film was the character of boston itself. kind of like the way nyc is often characterized when 9/11 is talked about. i've spent alot of time in boston, and felt like i had seen a part of boston that i had never seen before. a surprisingly "real" feeling film, like an aspiring film student making a film in his home town. good stuff, recommend.
