So LG, who have already partnered with fashion luminaries such as Roberto Cavalli and Prada to make fashionphones, has partnered with Rolex to produce a Rolex phone.

This is only the latest, and by the sound of it one of the silliest, in an ongoing jewelryfication of technology (see also gold plated iPhones, Google ring etc.). Apple began by fetishizing technology and making it a fashion accessory, and more and more people seem be taking that idea and running with it, which is all well and good until it gets to the point where your wedding ring is practically obsolete a year after you get it.
